Meet Michael Attorney, Volunteer and Activist

Home  »  Meet Michael

A South Florida native, Michael Joseph has always been an individual that was compelled to give back to his community. Even from a young age Michael always had a sense of helping others and recognizing issues in his community. By volunteering at his father’s church Michael spent time and connected with the people in our community.

When Michael saw problems in his neighborhood, he took a proactive role in bringing about a positive change; a change through education, volunteering, and civil service. Growing up Michael watched his parents work extremely hard and also witness everyone around him struggle. The moments he witnessed gave Michael the fire and drive to work hard so that he could give back. He realized the importance and appreciated the sacrifices that his family has made.

Miami Edison Sr High 5000 Role Models of Excellence

Michael graduated top of his class from Miami Edison Senior High School and was affiliated with the 5000 Role Models of Excellence organization. Michael volunteered for over a year with, then Florida State Senator, Kendrick B. Meek. That experience provided Michael an opportunity to witness the importance of local government, and how positive change in our community is attainable through the works of local civic activism. Michael’s passion for community development is something that is strong and genuine; he has clear understanding of the realities facing our community. Michael can relate to the people in the community because he has faced various challenges that many continue to face. For instance, he knows the trials and tribulations of taking care and supporting a family while putting oneself through school.

Michael earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and Masters in Public Management from Florida International University. Michael continued on earning his Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law; all while he was working for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, which further guided his perspective of the government’s role in serving the people. As such, Michael is an individual that has the heart, the tenacity, and the vision to lead our community forward and beyond.
