ABOUT MICHAEL JOSEPH
"In less than two years in office, together, we were able to restore the water back to quarterly billing and implement a billing assistance program. We place additional funds in the coffers to build a new community center in the Washington Park neighborhood and expunged the criminal records of many North Miami Beach residents. Together we fought to increase the cities minimum wage to a living wage. This fight continues and there is more left to do to increase the quality of life and safety of all residents. Let's continue to move forward, together."- Michael Joseph, Esq., Commissioner for the City of North Miami Beach, Group 7
My name is Michael Joseph, and I am currently Commissioner for the great city of North Miami Beach, now running to be your mayor. I was born and raised in the Little River neighborhood of Miami, with my sister Lucy, by our loving parents, Louis and Elvina Joseph.
My father, a custodian and Pastor, and my mother a housekeeper raised my sister and I to value faith and community. I wasn’t even the first elected official in our family. My sister, Lucy, holds that title.
I graduated from Miami Edison High School and received my MBA from Florida International University (FIU). I attended the University of Pittsburg’s Thurgood Marshall program to begin my law degree and graduated from St. Thomas University with my Juris Doctorate. While in college I worked for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), assisting with briefs and working on a program, named M.I.K.E. to speed up the background check process. Many parts of this program are still in use today.
After graduating I became an attorney with the law firm of Galbut Walters & Associates, with a focused practice in civil rights and land use.

I am a member of the Miami-Dade County Democratic Party Labor Committee, the Democratic Haitian-American Caucus of Florida, the Caribbean Democratic Caucus, and whip for the National Haitian American Elected Officials Network. As a North Miami Beach Commissioner, I am the board liaison for the Public Utilities Commission and Code Enforcement. My focus is to continue improving the lives of the residents of North Miami Beach and restoring the resident's trust through ethics reforms.

My wife Asia and I, were married at North Miami Beach's famous Ancient Spanish Monastery and are raising our sons, Alexander and David, in the Sunray West neighborhood of NMB.

I look forward to your vote as mayor and continuing to work on your behalf.
